In our region of Lake Ontario, the salmon / trout fishing has been at a snails pace. Speaking with the NY state fish survey boat that works the south shore of Lake Ontario, Doug said that the whole lake is in the same mode. We are working hard to catch some fish.
The past week I've been taking some brown trout 8-12 lbs. salmon 9-18 lbs. with a few lake trout mixed in.
The most action has been from 100-250' of water. That is where you will find the bait fish.
The smallmouth bass in our region has been productive.
fishermen are using jigs and softshell crawfish for the best results.
Enjoy the nice summer weather and take the family to Lake Ontario for a great outing, and before long the action will be in high gear.
Capt. Frank
