Port Bay is safely dredged open for the spring season. Charles DeNoto Jr. who keeps the channel open
at Port Bay, for the Port Bay Improvement Assoc. opened
the channel on Thursday the 28th of March.
The surface temperature in the Port Bay area was 39.0
to 43.0 There was plenty of color to the shoreline.
we took the boat out for a test run and washed off some
dusty stickbaits. We caught one brown trout, dropped one at the boat. And had 4 other strikes. There was no
bait in the trouts stomach. Another boat working the shoreline, took two browns and released a 7-8 lb. Walleye that hit in about 4' of water. There were no other boats working the area around Port Bay - East Bay. I'm sure everyone was home celebrating Easter with
their family's. Well I'm sure that next weekend will bring plenty of fishermen out for some Lake Ontario action. One other note the perch are still nibbling in the bay. I talked to some fishermen that were doing quite well using nightcrawlers.
