The salmon fishing off of Port Bay has been spotty. One day your a hero the next day your a zero. But I'm sure that rule holds true for most of the southern shoreline. The area to work for the mature salmon has been 75-125' of water. I've been catching most of my salmon on flashers and fly's. But last saturday a boat out of Sodus Bay was having a great morning using "28"
size spoons. I think the whole secret to this game is put a lure in front of a hungry salmon and get ready to do battle !!!! Now for the important part. The strikes were coming 50'-75' down stretched back about 25' from the cannon ball. For the trophy bass fishermen reading this. We have been fishing 18-40' of water from Port Bay to Fair Haven, using nightcrawlers and minnows having the time of our lives catching these hungry little fish.
There is more great weather predicted for this weekend,
so pack up the family and head to Lake Ontario to create some memories. Capt. Frank DeNoto
